Unedited working document. Published as Matthew wrote it: a working document, so it reads like planning — notes to himself, ideas still being argued over, and a few sentences that stop mid-thought.

Spoilers. This picks up after the main story ends, so it gives away how things turn out for Ashen.

This story takes place 20 years after the events of this story where ashen eventually settles down. But the hook in this story is that something unusual happened…something cosmically impossible…glitch has chosen 2 wielders. Ashens 2 sons. Umbra and Orion. And because of this cosmic anomaly, something awakens inside of existence itself. Something more powerful and older than the titans. The original being’s consciousness is returning and seeks to be made whole again.

Here are the 2 characters (for now)

Umbra Greyfield

While umbra did inherit glitch, recall that across the 3 generations of glitch users, all have been manifested differently.
For Ragna, the 1st wielder, his glitch manifested as total omnipotence as in this story and this universe, he is THE absolute strongest being. Period.
For Ashen, the 2nd wielder, his glitch manifested as controlled omnipotence. While yes, he does have glitch but can't wield it to the same degree as Ragna has. Ashen can control glitch to a certain extent but not master it like Ragna.
For umbra, the 3rd wielder, here is where its more “interesting”. One of glitch’s fundamental abilities is to see the past, present, future and alternative futures all at once. Umbra can see these visions but not necessarily know exactly whether he is seeing the past, present or future. As a matter of fact, Umbra does not even start out with glitch as his active main power. Unlike all past users, umbra actually starts out with no ryu signature (this determines what sort of ryu type you have) as most people can only be born with one.
This is an accidental byproduct of having a sibling which is orion whose ability directly conflicts and interrupts the flow of glitch. And since orions ryu signature, the system, is active the moment he is born, Umbra’s glitch didn't have the time to mature like past users until Orion spent less time with Umbra.
However, just like all downsides have their ups, Umbra’s glitch is unique even among its past users. In addition to its overwhelming power that carried on from its past users, Umbra can now command and control regular ryu signature types as well. This is due to Orions system ability and both being twins so their base line DNA are similar thus the twins have similar traits. What this all means in layman's term is that Umbra unlike Ragna or Ashen who could only wield glitch and perform abilities glitch had, Umbra can use glitch in addition to other ryu signatures outside of glitch.

Orion Greyfield

This character's ability honestly is very simple and at the same time complicated. Since he has the system, he technically can use all and every ryu signature type with almost no trouble as the system is well the entire ryu ecosystem.
BUT, that doesn't mean he can use them all on day one. Orion is still a human and the system can’t change his physical human body capacity. This is where it gets a bit…complex. Orion can use all ryu signatures yes but only one at a time. The result of changing between any ryu type that conflicts itself too quickly can cause backlash against the ability itself. For example, if Orion used fire ryu and then quickly changed to lightning ryu that’d be fine as they don’t conflict in the base of nature. But if Orion uses fire ryu but then quickly shifts into water ryu, there may be backlashes against the human body like dizziness or misfires potentially. This is where Umbra’s differs actually ; Umbra can use all of them, at once. Since glitch itself is its own “system” that doesn’t obey the rules, it can use all the ryu techniques at once or even create new ones by mixing and matching other ryu types.
